The adventures continue on Diás Island …

IT CAN BE VISITED ONLY WITH PROFESSIONAL GUIDE! MAKING AN APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED!

Did you know that István Fekete's novel, the "Tüskevár" was written in a cottage nestling in the hidden reed of Kis-Balaton? Everyone knows the story of Tutajos and Bütyök about the unforgettable summer vacation full of experiences.

Even today there is also the legendary Uncle Matula's hut from the novel, and you can have a look at it!

The novel "Tüskevár" was written in the house standing in a magical clear on the Dias Island, and the second part is the "Téli Berek". Today it is the memorial of the writer, István Fekete, and here you can visit his study room and the memorial room of the natural philosopher Jakob Schenk Vönöcky.

You can reach the István Fekete memorial through the "Kócsag" path of the Dias island. You can gain insight into the life of the water plants, bats, fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals in the area of Kis-Balaton. You can find out how overgrown water plants in the canals were confined with the help of Asian water buffalos, what fishing instrument the 'vejsze' was and how people used it for fishing, who had an important role in rescuing the great egret and what purpose the corduroy roads served for.

In the highly protected area of Kis-Balaton, on the Diás Island, we can find the Kócsag Educational Path, which was handed over by the National Park Directorate in 2010. It can be visited only on excursions organised to the Fekete István memorial centre and exclusively with a professional guide!
