We highly welcomed all the visitors celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Csömödér State Forest Railway with a festival timetable and with an extended programme-offer in Csömödér on 30th June 2018.
This year’s special Small-Forest-Railway-Day could be implemented within the framework of the „GO IN NATURE” project of the Interreg V-A Slovenia–Hungary Cooperation Programme; therefore several guests arrived at the event from the other side of the border.
Unlike in the previous years, you could not only get to the ceremony by train, by forest railway or by car; sporty and persistent visitors arrived either after taking a trek of 13 kilometres or after completing a 45-kilometre cycling tour from Lenti. Thank you very much for Henriett Hara and for the Mocorgók Egyesület (Association of Active People) for organising this programme!
The almost five hundred guests were welcomed by Gyula Rosta, general manager and Péter Cseresnyés, Parliament Undersecretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. They dedicated a memorial table on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the Forest Railway, which was placed on the wall of the tourist hostel. That was followed by the Állati Jó (Horribly Good) Show, with the performance of living animals. Furthermore, the teachers and pupils of the Arany János Általános Iskola (János Arany Primary School) in Lenti and of the Alapfokú Művészeti Iskola (Elementary Art School) participated in the programme as well.
Before and during the performances and shows visitors could taste different herb teas, the children could ride on a pony, they could attend a craftsmen’s workshop; the youngest guests were fascinated by the skill developing children’s activities of the Mikka Makka playhouse, the folk’s playground and by the railway-model-show.
On the occasion of this special anniversary our guests were served an enormous cake as a surprise, after the show; each visitor was given a unique leaflet on the history of the 100-year-old forest railway.
The trains went back to both Lenti and to Kistolmács at the end of the event, and the panorama-carriage train with a photographer as well. 427 persons travelled by the forest railway on the day of the Small-Forest-Railway-Day. The guests staying in Csömödér could persist until late afternoon and enjoy the colourful programmes.
